What's On the Table?

I created this website and blog as a way to connect with people from all walks of life, in the spirit of family life, baking/cooking, healing, exploration, connectedness and creativity.  This space is one where I hope to share my life's experiences and encourage others to do the same.  I love to bake and cook for my family and others. My site is one where I will share the good, bad, and the disastrous that comes with that.  This is not going to be the type of blog and site where I rant and rave about how great I am, and how only if you could bake like me you could be awesome too-give me a break!   No, this is something a little different. This is baking and cooking, combined with family life, their correlation, and how if we put in a little more effort, both can yield fantastic results (you just have to change your perspective as to how you define results).

Have you ever had a delicious dish?  You might have been at a friend's house or a family dinner and loved what you ate.  Being comfortable in the kitchen, you ask for the recipe, and try it the next weekend. What happens??? It doesn't turn out right!  It tastes "somewhat" like what you had the previous weekend and understandably you're frustrated. You go over the steps several times, but don't understand why yours doesn't taste right. What did you do wrong? Nothing. There are 100 reasons why yours doesn't taste like Aunt Helen's; she might have omitted the "secret" ingredient and didn't tell you (my mom does this ALL the time), the dough might require kneading 2 not 3 times-the list is endless. Like the recipe, we can do everything "seemingly" right in our lives: rearing our children, with our significant others and not get the desired results. Sometimes things just happen and we have no idea why. We have to stop beating ourselves up about it, stop insisting we did something WRONG, then learn from it and move on.   Crazy things happen on a daily basis in the kitchen but that can't stop us from producing delicious and healthy food, trying new recipes, inviting our friends and family to our tables, and creating a space of love and light in our homes.

That is what I am putting on the table. I hope you find something to your liking.
